Visit the Science Museum
Many museums in the United States offer free family days. Find the science museum in your area and take the kids to visit. Exposing children to the exhibits at the museum lets children see real life science and scientific artifacts. Seeing large dinosaur artifacts makes a lasting impression on children. Science museums also have many hands-on science exhibits. Children can use magnifying glasses and microscopes to examine things. Children can study physics using real life objects such as toy cars and ramps. At some museums children can learn about the carbon cycle by playing cards and using ping pong balls in the carbon room. Hands-on science helps to develop a love of science.
Use the Science Vocabulary Words
Starting from a very young age, students need to be exposed to scientific vocabulary words. Have children read books about science, watch television programs that focus on science, and look up scientific concepts on the Internet. When reading, point out the scientific words in the text.

Find Science in Nature
Science is everywhere. Children need to be reminded that science that occurs in nature. Planting seeds and watching them grow teaches children about the plant life cycle phases. Point out the moon in the sky and teach children to observe how it changes shapes each day. The can illustrate and document their findings in a self made moon phases journal. Teach children about the tide by taking them to the beach and noting how the tide changes throughout the day. Make play-doh in the classroom or at home by mixing ingredients and teaching kids to measure. Children love hands-on science activities.
